LITTER louts are being clamped down on across the Malvern Hills District.

Most recently, a man from Worcester has been fined for dumping two large pizza boxes outside St Gabriel Church, in Hanley Swan, amid the crackdown launched by Malvern Hills District Council.

The pizza boxes were discarded on Tuesday, February 17, and were discovered by a resident who phoned the council to report the littering.

The council wrote to the man who admitted the offence, and a Fixed Penalty Notice of £75 was issued to him.

This is the 13th Fixed Penalty Notice which has been issued already this year. In the whole period of 2014, only 13 penalties were issued.

Gordon Morris, street scene team manager for the council, said: "If we have evidence of who has committed a littering offence we can do something about it, sending a strong message to others and protecting our beautiful area.

"We will continue our hard work and commitment in looking for those individuals who drop litter."
