WORCESTER singer Kate Playdon and her group the Honeybuns wowed Britain's Got Talent judges on Saturday to win a place in the semi-finals.

The six-strong group performed the Weather Girls' classic It's Raining Men, getting a standing ovation from the audience and four 'yeses' from Simon Cowell.

"It was really intimidating at first," she said. "The stage is a lot smaller than it looks on the TV, and you're really close to the judges. but when the music started we just got carried away by it. David [Walliams] said the song was his anthem and the other judges really liked it as well."

Now the Honeybuns will be appearing in one of the live BGT shows being broadcast this week. "I can't say which night we're on, and I can't tell you what we'll be singing, but it will be something which will allow us to show our range," she said.

Miss Playdon, aged 26, is a former Alice Ottley pupil and member of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society. Originally from Kempsey, she now lives in London.
