AN Environment Agency employee who has worked for 37 years to alleviate flooding across Worcestershire has been awarded the British Empire Medal.
The award for Donald Collins was announced in the New Year's Honour list, but he has now been presented with the medal by the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Colonel Patrick Holcroft.
Mr Collins, aged 63, who lives in Rowberry Street, Bromyard, was given the medal for his years of service with the Environment Agency.
Mr Collins said: "Since 2003 when the first flood barriers were installed in Bewdley, the agency has improved flood defences in Worcester, Upton on Severn. Pershore and other smaller communities in Worcestershire.
"To be part if this is very rewarding and to see the quality of lives improved to so many people and to receive this award makes me feel very proud."
