A TRADITIONAL village fete is coming to Malvern in aid of a charity for vulnerable children in Thailand.

The event at The Swan Inn, Newlands, on Saturday (September 5) from 2pm to 4pm will feature a barrel push and tug of war competition and will raise money for Hands.

Members of the public are being urged to attend the community event, take part in the competition and learn more about the good cause’s work.

John Tinnion, organiser of the fun day, said: “We are trying to re-create the fun of the old style village fete with traditional games, sports and stalls and we are hoping teams will enter the barrel push and tug of war competition’

Hands works in Northern Thailand and Burma.

It exists to "protect those who are exploited and vulnerable to abuse, many of whom are fleeing oppression and suffering persecution" and to "prevent the trafficking of young children and, where possible, to rescue and rehabilitate those who have suffered at the hands of traffickers".

Members of the charity’s Malvern support team, who will be returning to Northern Thailand to continue the organisation’s work, are keen to hear from anyone interested in getting involved.
