A PENSIONER aged 91 was rescued by firefighters from her smoke-filled house after she fell while cooking.
Fire crews were alerted to the village of Wyre Piddle near Pershore when the woman fell in the kitchen, could not get back up and pressed a personal alarm button.
Three Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service fire engines from Evesham and Pershore attended the incident, which took place at 11.43am on Tuesday (October 6).
The crews extinguished a small fire in the cooker and helped aerate the smoke-filled building.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent one ambulance to the scene to care for the elderly woman, whose condition has not been released.
