A WOMAN has been rescued from the Malvern Hills after falling and suffering a leg injury on Saturday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the British Camp area just after 2.15pm and sent an ambulance, a community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer and the hazardous area response team to the scene.

The fire service sent out an off-road vehicle, based at its station in Worcester Road, Malvern Link, to assist with the rescue.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “The woman, thought to be in her 50s, had fallen whilst walking on the Malvern Hills, approximately half-a-mile from the British Camp car park.

“She was assessed and treated for a lower leg injury, had her leg immobilised and was given pain relief by ambulance staff.

“The difficulty was getting her back down to the ambulance. Crews worked closely with the fire service who provided their specialist off-road vehicle in order to complete the rescue.

“The woman was carefully moved on to the vehicle before being taken down the side of the hill and to the awaiting ambulance.

“She was then transported to Worcester Royal Hospital for further treatment.”
