A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after being injured while playing rugby in Malvern.
West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Malvern Rugby Football Club, Spring Lane, just after 3.30pm this afternoon, (February 13).
An ambulance, a community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham also attended the incident.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, had suffered a serious ankle injury.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff worked to stabilise his condition, treated the injury and administered pain relief.
“Once the ankle had been straightened, the man was carefully moved on to the air ambulance which had landed on the pitch.
“He was then flown to Worcester Royal Hospital for further treatment and assessment.”
