A MAN walking home from work was threatened, thrown into a hedge and hit with a piece of wood by two attackers.

The victim, who is 18 years old, was walking home in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday, between 1.30am and 2.15am.

As he passed BJH Motors at the bottom of Rainbow Hill, he noticed two men following him.

The two caught up with him and asked him the time, before threatening him and telling him to hand over his possessions.

When he refused, he was then been pushed into a hedge in Mayfield Road, before being assaulted with a piece of wood.

He managed to get away from his attackers and no property was taken. The men then left the scene on foot towards an unknown direction.

The victim suffered minor head injuries and attended the accident and emergency unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

One of the suspects is described as a white man of slim build, 5ft 10in tall and wearing a white hooded top. The other is a white man of large build, 5ft 8ins tall and wearing a black hooded top. Both had local accents.

PC Ben Kings, of West Mercia Police, said: "I would like to reassure the local community that these actions are not tolerated and we want to bring these individuals to justice following their pure lack of respect for another human being.

"Anyone who may have been within the area at the time, or has information in respect to the two men described is asked to get in touch by calling our non-emergency number."

If anyone witnessed the incident, or has any information relating to it, call police on 101, quoting incident number 31S of April 25.
