A VIEW of Worcester Bridge taken in the 1950s shows vehicles of the era going about their everyday business with a number of pedestrians and cyclists.

The photograph also picks out the site where Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s headquarters and conference rooms now stand, and, most recently the Premier Inn Hotel, which now stands next door.

The layout is quite different today with an island running the length of the bridge to separate the traffic with pedestrian islands and traffic lights at each end.

Fortunately, the lovely street lamps, believed to have been installed in the 1930s, remain a feature and illuminate the bridge at night.
