A CHARITY auction and barbecue will take place next weekend to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Andrew Whalley, from Malvern, is cycling 603-miles from John O’Groats to Lands End in June and has set his sights on raising £1,000 for the charity.

To help reach his target, the auction and barbecue event will be held on Saturday, May 14 at The Royal Oak in Leigh Sinton from 6.30pm.

Items included in the auction are: tickets to the West Midland Safari Park, a three-course meal at The Talbot in Knightwick, a voucher for clothing from Cox of Malvern, a Champagne hamper from Listers Audi, Worcester Warriors rugby tickets, a day for two at Malvern Spa and gardening time from Manor Estates - and much more.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal disease that affects the brain and spinal cord and attacks the nerves which control movement.

Mr Whalley will cycle the route with Paul Corbett and Richard Capper, who are raising money for Prostate Cancer and Cancer Research UK respectively.
