A MALVERN St James pupil has won a prestigious Cambridge University competition.
Lucinda Hobden, from Ledbury, penned a prize winning piece for the Cambridge University Corpus Christi essay writing competition.
Her essay on 'does literary criticism do us any good' won the Christopher Marlowe prize in English.
She entered the competition after a suggestion from English teacher Karen Hubbard.
Lucinda said: I entered the competition simply because I was interested in the question. I really enjoyed the research and it gave me the opportunity, and incentive, to consider deeper questions around English literature.”
She has won £300 and will attend a prize winner’s lunch along with other writers, graduates, dons and lecturers from the College.
The win has also fuelled Lucinda’s intention to apply to Cambridge University next Autumn.
