Malvern's MP has called for a ban on 'flamethrower' Chinese lanterns.
Harriett Baldwin asked Cop26 president Alok Sharma to make it his objective to ban the sale of lanterns across the UK during Cop26 Questions in Westminster.
“Across our tinder-dry land they are simply acting as unguided flamethrowers,” she said.
A debate on disposable BBQs followed Mrs Baldwin's comments.
During Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, MP Caroline Nokes asked Boris Johnson if he would look to ban the items to prevent fires.
The PM responded: “I think the key thing is for people to behave responsibly first with the use of these things.
“It’s clearly insane to take a disposable barbeque onto dry grass.”
