A GOVERNMENT backed roadshow is visiting Worcester to help more local people into homeownership.

The free Help to Buy event, which is taking place at Worcester Racecourse on Pitchcroft on Saturday, July 9 from 10am until 4pm, provides an opportunity to meet a range of housing professionals, who can help would-be-homeowners unlock their buying potential and get on the property ladder.

With house builders, mortgage advisors and solicitors available, visitors can increase their property knowledge and gain lots of useful information. Help to Buy Midlands will be on hand with information about the different home buying options that are available and how Help to Buy works.

One Worcester resident who has been helped to buy her first home with the government backed scheme is French teacher Stacey Redpath, who recently purchased a new city centre apartment with a Help to Buy Equity Loan. She said: "Help to Buy is just a great way to get on the property ladder without a huge deposit. I am saving £100 a month than when I was renting and I’m now a homeowner. I was originally looking at older properties but they do require work. New builds are covered by a 10 year guarantee and by putting money into a monthly kitty my flat is serviced and maintained without the stress and hassle of having to do it myself.”

Exhibitors at the Help to Buy Worcestershire event include house builders with properties available through the Help to Buy Equity Loan and shared ownership schemes, and financial advisors, who will be providing free mortgage assessments and advice throughout the day. There will also be solicitors available with guidance on the conveyancing process.

The shows are not just for first-time buyers, they are also for people thinking about moving up the property ladder, or downsizing to a smaller home. Entry is free. People can turn up on the day or avoid the queues by registering for free tickets at helptobuymidlands.co.uk/worcestershire
