MUCH Marcle driver Ben Davis made a successful car racing debut at Snetterton in the Michelin Clio Cup Series.

The 21-year-old spent a few years in the 140mph Superkarts while doing his law degree.

After limited testing in the Clio, Davis debuted under the Finesse Motorsport with TECS Distribution banner.

He qualified ninth out of 16 for both the 10-lap races.

Davis chased down the leading pack and was seventh, 5.5 seconds off the winner. He won the race sport class and did the fastest lap for those without a year’s car racing experience.

Davis was fifth in the second race with another class win and fastest lap.

He said: “It was an incredible weekend that I came into with limited testing and expectations. As the weekend progressed and with the support from the guys at Finesse, I got more confident and was absolutely delighted with where I ended up.

“I hope to use this result as a platform for securing partners for the 2015 season but the high-profile and competitive Michelin Clio Cup Series is where I want to be to progress my racing career.”
