MANAGER Jon Taylor says he will not have “thugs” in his team and has promised a full investigation into the ugly scenes that further soured Hereford United’s defeat at Slough Town.

Aaron Wickham, who was an unused substitute, and Sam Akinde were both sent off after the final whistle for their part in a fracas following a 2-0 defeat for the Bulls.

Taylor takes his United side to St Neots Town tomorrow (3pm) in a rearranged Southern League Premier Division match, but insists Tuesday’s incident will not be swept under the carpet.

He said: “We will be holding an internal inquiry and these issues will be dealt with once we’ve reviewed the video evidence that is available and we have spoken to the players involved.

“Obviously, based upon that evidence and what the players involved have to say in any defence they wish to put up, those involved will be dealt with accordingly.

“We cannot have thugs in the team, it doesn’t bode well and goes against all my morals and principles.”

Chairman Andy Lonsdale added: “There will be a rigorous internal investigation and matters dealt with in a manner befitting the reputation of Hereford United Football Club.”

Both players will be available for the St Neots match as their bans won’t come into force until November 4.

Hereford have only won once in their last seven league matches.
