WORCESTER Warriors’ long-term vision to become an established Aviva Premiership club has been given a significant boost.

They have completed an agreement with Worcester Rugby, who run amateur club Worcester Wanderers Rugby Club, over the use of the whole of the Sixways Stadium site.

Warriors will now initiate a project to build a 4G training pitch and transform part of the land into a second main training pitch for their first team and academy players.

Worcester Rugby will construct a new clubhouse, extend the existing changing rooms, install a new drainage system to improve their playing surfaces and create two new pitches for mini and junior rugby on their Westons Fields and Cummins Farm pitches.

Warriors' chief executive Jim O’Toole said: “This is a landmark agreement for Warriors as it allows us to make decisions about investing in our training facilities to address our long-term aspirations.

“We will now improve our training facilities to ensure they rival those of any club in the country.

“This will allow us to attract the top players to this club as we continue to build for a successful future in the Premiership.

“We also look forward to working closely with the amateur club on a range of areas of mutual interest and benefit."

The agreement is also seen as a major step forward for Worcester Rugby and amateur rugby in the city with the new clubhouse set to offer a significant improvement to their facilities.

Wanderers' chairman Adrian Harling said: “This agreement is a significant statement of intent by both rugby groups in the locality. It will offer a very exciting future for both the amateur and professional clubs.”
