FOUR Malvern bowlers reached the semi-finals of an annual indoor competition at Potters Resort, Norfolk.

Joan Lowe, Bill Lowe, Brian Masters and Hazel Masters battled through four testing preliminary rounds to reach the knockout stages.

They won through the quarter-finals before coming up against a seasoned squad from Wolverton, Buckinghamshire, in the semis.

A ding-dong battle ensued with the advantage constantly changing only for the Malvern players to be narrowly defeated at the close.

Bill and Joan Lowe are ex-Malvern Victoria players, who now compete with their teammates at Malvern Hills Indoor Bowling Club.

This was the second bowls trip to the eastern coast under the banner of Malvern Victoria.

Victoria president Steve Boughton organised the tour but they also fielded participants from other local clubs, such as Malvern’s Manor Park and Worcester’s St Dunstans and Barbourne.

All nine Victoria teams enjoyed the friendly rivalry, food and entertainment.
