UPTON’S post-Christmas hangover continued as they lost their second Midlands Four West (South) match in a row.

The third-placed Old Street side went down 26-10 at fourth-from-bottom Coventrians.

But Upton started brightly on a boggy pitch and scored after five minutes when skipper James Gammond went blind from a ruck and fed second row Andy Ford to crash over in the corner.

However, from kick-off, they let Coventrians back into the game.

Rob Heeley misjudged the ball and then was penalised for not rolling away at the tackle.

Coventrians kicked to the corner and after a number of phases powered over to score and convert.

Upton dominated the rest of the half but fell foul of the referee.

The ball was spilled on halfway and Coventrians hacked through, winning the chase to touch down a second converted try.

Upton did not look like scoring in the second half and the hosts gained in confidence with two tries and one conversion.

The visitors dominated the last 10 minutes and prop John Willis scored after a catch-and-drive five metres out.

Evesham romped home 57-5 at lowly Harbury to go top of Midlands Three West (South).

Tries were scored by James Roberts, Ben Harrison, Matthew Watson, Scott Fairfax, Tristan Walsh (2), Ashley Icke, Joe Cafearo and Sam Hopkins along with six conversions.

Basement boys Pershore lost 47-5 at home to Woodrush and second-placed Ledbury beat Cheltenham North 22-12.

Kidderminster Carolians were edged out 28-24 by fellow Midlands Two West (North) high-fliers Camp Hill at home.

The hosts stormed 12-0 ahead inside seven minutes, starting with hooker Grant Jones burrowing over for Chris Pinner to convert.

Wing Arthur Morgan then finished off in the corner from brother George Morgan’s pass.

But KCs became careless to concede two converted tries in reply.

They started the second half well with George Morgan going over from Andy McLellan’s pass.

Pinner’s conversion made it 19-14 but Camp Hill hit back with two more converted efforts.

Arthur Morgan earned two hard-earned bonus points with a late KCs try.
