WORCESTER Nomads A steamed past county champions Cutnall Green as their B side prevailed over Royal Grammar School Worcester.

In Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Worcester Division One, Nomads A (116-4) beat Green (51 all out) by 65 runs.

Matt Harris (15), Neil Evans and Ted Bayliss (14) all struggled against attacking bowling from Rich Henry (1-14) and Pat O’Driscoll (1-22).

They were aided by fine fielding from Nomads’ Sean Butler, who saved many runs.

Green were soon behind the run-rate and losing wickets and the game was over with 4.5 overs remaining.

Earlier, Nomads put together a reasonable score after the controversial loss of Joe Laugher in the second over.

Sam Roberts (40 not out) and Pat O’Driscoll (30 not out) provided the major impetus.

RGS (106-3) lost to Nomads B (107-0) with nine balls remaining.

The students put together a far more composed effort in their second match with Cal Turner (39 not out), Alex Wheeler (28 not out) and Rhodri Williams (18 not out) making important contributions.

But the final total appeared a little short and Derek Austin helped reduce the middle order with 2-22.

In reply, Nomads were under little pressure with Austin, Olly Sculley and Jamie Oliver all retiring on 27.

At the halfway point, they were on 70-0 and coasting before going on to wrap up victory.

In Division Two, unbeaten Martley (117-3) beat West Malvern (69 all out) by 48 runs with an all-round performance.

Ian Flower (19), Pete Gardener (31 not out) and Simon van Tongeren (26 not out) were the mainstays though they lost a wicket in the first over.

Pete O’Connell was West’s key bowler with 1-19.

Chasing an about par 117, O’Connell departed quickly but Kevin Gilbert (36) stuck around.

However, West were otherwise largely reduced to observers.

Tom Clement picked up 2-16 and the rest were run-out.

Malvern (87-5) lost to Rushwick (88-4) with eight balls remaining.

Sean Smith (43 not out) again kept Malvern in the match, beating his previous best in successive games.

Jamie Sakar (13) also contributed but the total under a hundred was unlikely to cause too much of a challenge for even Rushwick, whose form and luck has been missing a while.

Rushwick replied cautiously but with resolution and Malvern were less profligate with wides on this occasion.

Eventually, Matt Champion (10) provided momentum and Nimanjhia Indimna (10 not out) with James Saunders (26 not out) closed proceedings.
