MALVERN cricketer Georgia Hennessy helped Western Storm to the final of the first Kia Super League.

Southern Vipers were crowned the T20 champions as veterans Sara McGlashan and Lydia Greenway held their nerve to clinch a seven-wicket victory.

Vipers topped the qualifying table and seemed on course for a comfortable win in Chelmsford.

Captain Charlotte Edwards shared an opening stand of 78 with Suzie Bates in reply to a Storm total of 140-5 when Hennessy added a late nine not out from three balls.

They hit back in the final by dismissing both Vipers openers in three overs but Greenway and McGlashan shared the unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 39 to win with seven balls to spare.

Storm beat Worcestershire player Thea Brookes’ Loughborough Lightning side to secure their final place with Hennessy hitting the winning runs.
