MALVERN Triathlon Club’s Vikki Sivertsen was victorious at the Powerman and ITU World Long Distance Duathlon Championships.
She won the female 50 to 54 age group in Zofingen, Switzerland, to collect a gold medal and the title of world champion.
The gruelling event consisted of a 10-kilometre run, a 150km bike leg and a final run of 30km with in excess of 10,000 feet of climbing.
Sivertsen finished in nine hours 20 minutes, over 56 minutes ahead of the second-placed athlete in her age group.
It was the culmination of two years of planning and training to perfectly round off the 2016 season.
She won a bronze medal at the European equivalent in Copenhagen and was fourth at the World Standard Distance Duathlon Championships in Avilés, Spain.
